Making the most of your HR outsourcing

by Jessica Sanders

HR is an important aspect of your business, but often times, delegating duties to be done from department to department can seem like an easy way out of actually hiring an HR person. However, it’s important that you have the proper person in place – even if they aren’t sitting within the four walls of your office.  Therefore, HR outsourcing is a great way to save time, money and stress while gaining the proper human resources necessary to run your business.

However, instead of simply hiring an HR company to take over the basic duties consider how you can get the most bang for your buck. To do this, you want to qualify the business by the following three components.

Legal regulations

There are a number of rules, regulations and laws governing your small business. From insurance, to hours and benefits, the government wants to make sure your employees are taken care of. Some HR outsourcing companies will provide you with a representative who can check your processes for compliance.

• Allow them to look through your hand books and current practices that are already in place. They can give this an overall assessment and make changes to ensure you are in line with proper regulation.

Employee benefits

Hiring and firing employees can be expensive, and time consuming. From benefits packages to proper wages, and taxes, there is a lot to know and do, and your HR outsourcing company can take the burden of it all.
A leader in HR outsourcing, Kruse PEO suggests, “With HR outsourcing all these are taken care of in a cost-effective manner and customised according to the individual requirements of the companies. This ensures efficiency in HR management while giving the company more resources to utilise for its core tasks.” How can you take the most advantage of this?

• Be sure that tax filing is also incorporated into their job duties. This ensures that the right people are handling the important aspects of your business.

A time consuming task is training – and with HR outsourcing, it’s another duty off your shoulders. While specific tasks may have to be taught by other employees within the department, basic rules, tasks, and policies can be taken care of through them. Your HR representative may be able to come into the office for the training, making the process that much more seamless.

• For the most part, HR will require similar skill sets; however, your business may have specific requirements. Be sure that these are relayed when new people are being trained to work for you.

HR outsourcing is a valuable service for growing businesses and the industry itself is becoming more important to new start-up companies. Whether you’re looking to save time or money, it’s a valuable asset that you can take advantage of.  When choosing the right company, though, be sure their practices are in line with your businesses values and code of ethics as they are a direct extension of the company and its brand.
